Dole Visits D.C. Central Kitchen On Hunger Awareness Day
Sen. Dole enjoys preparing food at the D.C. Central Kitchen on Hunger Awareness Day. The D.C. Central Kitchen trains unemployed and homeless adults with the skills needed to work in the food service industry. Dole’s Food Employment Empowerment and Development (FEED) Act, which supports organizations like the D.C. Central Kitchen, was recently included as part of the Farm Bill. Hunger and food insecurity affect one in ten U.S. households, including nearly one million of North Carolina’s 8.8 million residents. Dole has long been a champion of anti-hunger causes, and she is focused on a number of legislative initiatives to combat hunger in the United States and internationally.
