Tauzin, Dingell Commend Court
Ruling In Favor of Do-Not-Call List
WASHINGTON (October 8) -- House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Billy Tauzin (R-LA) and ranking member John Dingell (D-MI) today released the following statement on the latest decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals in Denver to allow the Federal Trade Commission to enforce the national do-not-call registry:
"We are very pleased the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned the Colorado Federal District Court's stay of the Federal Trade Commission's national do-not-call registry. Consumers will soon be able to take full advantage of the registry to stop unwanted telemarketing calls.
"We will continue to monitor this case as it progresses through the judicial system. To lend our full and complete support of the FTC's do-not-call registry, we plan to file an amicus brief with the 10th Circuit that will be drafted by First Amendment expert and former Solicitor General Walter Dellinger."
