Dear Chairman Rangel and Ranking Member McCrery:

Per your request for comments regarding the provisions of H.R. 4195, the “Technical Corrections Act of 2007,” I would like to raise serious concerns regarding Section 8 of the Act which, if enacted, would significantly increase taxes on small and closely-held American exporters.

I am a certified public accountant working with a number of small business exporters.  The proposed tax increase will make it more difficult for those businesses to compete in the global marketplace.  This change is not a “technical correction” to existing law – it is a real and significant tax hike on small exporters.  U.S. exports are increasing and it is critical that this trend continue for the current U.S. trade imbalance to improve.  Please help small business exporters stay competitive overseas.

Thank you for your consideration and for standing up for American exporters and jobs.

Sincerely,

James S. Redpath, CPA
