Event: 'Full Committee Markup'

The House Natural Resources Committee, led by Chairman Nick J. Rahall (D-WV), will meet in open markup session to mark up the following bills:


  • H.R. 3079 (Christensen): To amend the Joint Resolution Approving the Covenant to Establish a Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and for other purposes. (Northern Mariana Islands Covenant Implementation Act; Northern Mariana Islands Delegate Act)

  • H.R. 1497 (Bluemenauer): To amend the Lacey Act Amendments of 1981 to extend its protections to plants illegally harvested outside of the United States, and for other purposes. (Legal Timber Protection Act)

  • H.R. 3998 (Grijalva): To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to conduct special resources studies of certain lands and structures to determine the appropriate means for preservation, use, and management of the resources associated with such lands and structures. (America's Historical and Natural Legacy Study Act)

  • H.R. 1662 (Napolitano): To amend the Reclamation Safety of Dams Act of 1978 to authorize improvements for the security of dams and other facilities.

  • H.R. 2246 (Heller): To validate certain conveyances made by the Union Pacific Railroad Company of lands located in Reno, Nevada, that were originally conveyed by the United States to facilitate construction of transcontinental railroads, and for other purposes.

The Committee on Natural Resources met in an open markup session on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, and considered the following bills:

H.R. 1497 (Bluemenauer): To amend the Lacey Act Amendments of 1981 to extend its protections to plants illegally harvested outside of the United States, and for other purposes. "Legal Timber Protection Act"

The Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans was discharged from further consideration of H.R. 1497.

An amendment in the Nature of a Substitute offered by Mr. Rahall.004 was AGREED TO by voice vote.

Favorably reported to the House of Representatives, as amended, by voice vote.
