Sen. Hutchison Announces Over $600,000 in Texas Fire Grants 8 Texas Cities to Receive DHS Funding for Hiring, Operations and Safety and Fire Prevention
WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today announced over $600,000 in U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants for Texas firefighters and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel to improve overall preparedness and first response capabilities.
“These DHS grants will provide our firefighters and EMS responders with the resources they need to save lives,” Sen. Hutchison said. “This funding will help these brave men and women better prepare for emergency response and recovery in our communities.”

According to DHS, the funding can be used to hire, train and equip personnel, purchase personal protective equipment and make health and safety modifications to stations and facilities.
