Dr. Willerson to Lead Texas Heart Institute


WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) released the following statement today after UT Health Science Center at Houston President James T. Willerson, M.D., announced that he will soon be leading the Texas Heart Institute.

“Dr. Willerson’s contributions to Texas’ medical and scientific communities are remarkable,” Sen. Hutchison said. “UT Health Science Center at Houston’s national reputation prospered under his leadership. Dr. Willerson is also a leading researcher in the field of stem cell therapy. I congratulate him on an incredible career for which all Texans should be proud, and look forward to continuing to work with him in his new capacity at the Texas Heart Institute.”
