WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today announced that the University of Texas at Austin will receive a $393,804 research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

“These NSF funds will support efforts at the University of Texas at Austin to expand our knowledge and understanding of the world we live in,” Sen. Hutchison said.

The grant will support a project entitled, “Collaborative Research: IPY: POLENET-Antarctica: Investigating Links between Geodynamics and Ice Sheets," which is under the direction of Dr. Ian Dalziel, Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Geophysics.

Sen. Hutchison is a senior member of the Commerce Science, and Transportation Committee, which authorizes the NSF, and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, which funds the NSF budget.
