WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today announced that the University of Texas at El Paso will receive a $647,186 research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

“These funds will help the University of Texas at El Paso further its leading educational and research efforts,” Sen. Hutchison said.

The grant will support a project entitled, “CRI: Building Human Infrastructure: A Pipeline for Minority Preparedness in High Performance Computing (H-PIPE),” which is under the direction of Dr. Patricia Nava, Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Sen. Hutchison is a senior member of the Commerce Science, and Transportation Committee, which authorizes the NSF, and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, which funds the NSF budget.
