Sen. Hutchison Announces a Nearly $390,000 Research Grant for UT-Austin

WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today announced that the University of Texas at Austin will receive a $384,002 research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

“Collaborative research is vital to American competitiveness in an increasingly global economy,” Sen. Hutchison said. “These funds will help the University of Texas develop new initiatives in this area.”

The grant will support a project entitled, “Collaborative Research: Enabling Discovery in High Reynolds Number Turbulence via Advanced Tools for Petascale Simulation and Analysis,” under the direction of Dr. Robert Moser, Assistant Professor of Mathematics.

Sen. Hutchison is a senior member of the Commerce Science, and Transportation Committee, which authorizes the NSF, and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, which funds the NSF budget.
