Sen. Hutchison Announces a Nearly $600,000 Research Grant for Sam Houston State

WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today announced that Sam Houston State University will receive a $599,980 research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

“Education and research are vital to American competitiveness in an increasingly global economy,” Sen. Hutchison said. “These funds will help Sam Houston State scholars develop new and innovative methods in these areas.”

The grant will support a project entitled, “Peers Enhancing their Education through Research and Scholarship (PEERS),” under the direction of Dr. Brian Loft, Assistant Professor of Mathematics.

Sen. Hutchison is a senior member of the Commerce Science, and Transportation Committee, which authorizes the NSF, and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, which funds the NSF budget.
