Sen. Hutchison Announces $735,730 in Research Grants for Rice University
WASHINGTON -- Texas’ senior Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today announced that three research grants totaling $735,730 have been awarded to Rice University by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
“These funds will help support the efforts at Rice University to expand our knowledge and understanding of science and technology,” Sen. Hutchison said.
The grants will go to support the following projects:
· $150,000 for a project entitled "CSR---EHS: Coordinated Energy Optimization of Mobile Embedded Systems with User Information," under the direction of Assistant Professor Dr. Lin Zhong of the Computer Science Faculty
· $300,000 for a project entitled "An Automata-Theoretic Approach to Design Synthesis," under the direction of Dr. Moshe Vardi, Karen Ostrum George Professor in Computational Engineering and Director of the Computer and Information Technology Institute
· $285,730 for a project entitled "Interdependent Response of Complex Urban Infrastructures Subjected to Multiple Hazards," under the direction of Assistant Professor Dr. Leonardo Duenas Osorio of the Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty
