Sen. Hutchison Gives Legislative Update At Victoria Chamber of Commerce Coffee
Continues Three Day, 600 Mile Bus Tour to Meet with Gulf Coast Texans

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R–TX), Texas’ senior senator, today met with constituents, members of the business community, and local officials at an event hosted by the Victoria Chamber of Commerce.

“I was pleased to meet with Texans from Victoria County today to update them on what I’ve been doing in Washington to address the issues that are important to them,” said Sen. Hutchison. “As I travel to Victoria and other Texas towns this month, I am most interested in hearing directly from Texans so I may better represent them in the Senate.”

Sen. Hutchison provided a legislative update to 75 people on issues, including taxes, the economy, and energy. Also in attendance were Victoria Mayor Will Armstrong, County Judge Don Pozzi, Victoria County Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor, Jackson County Judge Harrison Stafford, Victoria County Commissioner Wayne Dierlam, Victoria County Navigation District Chairman Lee Swearingen, Victoria College President Dr. Tom Butler, Victoria Independent School District Trustee Tami Keeling, Former University of Houston Regent Morgan O'Connor, Cuero Industrial Foundation President Bill Blackwell, Calhoun County Judge Mike Pfeiffer and Victoria Chamber of Commerce Member Ernest Guajardo.

Today is the second day of Sen. Hutchison’s three day, 600 mile bus tour with 16 stops throughout South Texas and the Gulf Coast. Sen. Hutchison launched the tour on Monday in Harlingen and will bring the trip to a close with an event at the San Jacinto Memorial in LaPorte on Wednesday.

Sen. Hutchison is a member of the Senate Republican Leadership as Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and is Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
