Sen. Hutchison Gives Legislative Update at Harlingen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Breakfast
Embarks on Three Day, 16 Stop, 600 Mile Bus Tour to Meet with Gulf Coast Texans

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R–TX), Texas’ senior senator, today met with constituents, members of the business community, and local officials at an event hosted by the Harlingen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

“I was pleased to meet with Texans from Cameron County today to update them on what I’ve been doing in Washington to address the issues that are important to them,” said Sen. Hutchison. “As I travel to Harlingen and other communities this month, I am most interested in hearing directly from Texans so I may better represent them in the Senate.”

Sen. Hutchison provided a legislative update to 75 people on issues, including taxes, the economy, and energy. Also in attendance were Harlingen Mayor Chris Boswell, Hidalgo County Judge JD Salinas, San Benito Mayor Joe Hernandez, La Feria Mayor Pro Tem Lori Weaver, and Rio Grande Partnership President Bill Summers.

Today, Sen. Hutchison kicked off her three day, 600 mile bus tour, which includes 16 stops throughout South Texas and the Gulf Coast. Sen. Hutchison launched the tour this morning in Harlingen and will bring the trip to a close with an event at the San Jacinto Memorial in LaPorte on Wednesday.
