Sen. Hutchison Named “Most Influential Woman” At 2008 Women in Business Awards Luncheon

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Texas’ senior Senator, was named one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Business at the Dallas Business Journal’s inaugural Women in Business Awards luncheon today.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by the Dallas Business Journal. All of today’s award recipients, along with other area business women, are creating good jobs and helping to strengthen their communities. I am proud to be counted among these distinguished Texas women whose work contributes so much to our state’s economy,” said Sen. Hutchison. “In the Senate, I will continue to work on behalf of local Texas communities to help them spur economic growth, and I will continue to support small businesses throughout the state.”

Today’s luncheon marks the Dallas Business Journal’s inaugural presentation of its “Women in Business” Awards. Dallas Business Journal editor Lisa Bormaster presided over the luncheon, which drew nearly 1,000 attendees, primarily women from the Dallas business community.

Dallas Business Journal editors selected honorees based on leadership, dedication, and success in the corporate environment. Award categories included the Top 25 Most Influential Women in Business Award, the Top 25 Women Business Owners, and a “Women in Business Ally” Award, presented to Wachovia CEO Guy Bodine.
