Sen. Hutchison Announces Nearly $500,000 in Education Grants for The University of Texas Department of Special Education



WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Texas’ senior Senator, today announced that a funding package totaling $496,481 over five years was awarded to the Department of Special Education at The University of Texas at Austin by the U.S. Department of Education.

“These funds will be used by The University of Texas to develop classroom skills to help teachers of special needs children be even more effective,” Sen. Hutchison said.

The University of Texas will receive $99,901 for the school year beginning on August 1, 2007 and ending on July 31, 2008. These funds will be used to guide the development of skills for teachers of culturally and language diverse students with disabilities.
