Sen. Hutchison Announces Baylor College of Medicine Designated as Cancer Center by NCI

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today announced that the Baylor College of Medicine has been designated a national cancer center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Baylor College of Medicine is now one of only 63 institutions in the country with this designation.

“Baylor College of Medicine has been duly recognized for its quality care and innovative research by the National Cancer Institute,” Sen. Hutchison said. “This designation will bring more federal research dollars and enhance the exposure of this exceptional facility. I congratulate Baylor College of Medicine and look forward to the promising developments in cancer treatment and prevention this designation will yield.”

Texas is home to two other NCI designated cancer centers: M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, also in Houston, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
