Congresswoman Corrine Brown Advocates on Behalf of Seminole County Residents

(Washington, DC) - "My congressional office has been in close contact with Seminole County representatives to ensure that the residents obtain the assistance they need.  My office has also been in contact with the Governor of Florida’s office to discuss the situation in Seminole County, and make them aware of the needs in this area after receiving calls from Seminole County officials regarding very serious flooding and damage to the homes in that County.

In order for my office to help in the seeking of assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the county must ask the state for an emergency designation, and the state in turn, would make a request to FEMA for this designation.  And along with Seminole County being added to the emergency designation list, I will be strongly advocating for FEMA to approve Florida’s request.  I am thrilled to see that after the Florida governor’s emergency management team traveled through the Seminole County area to assess the situation, that they included Seminole County and added it to the request list for 'Individual Assistance.'   I will be in the Central Florida area and Seminole County next week to assess the damage and assist in any way necessary."
