Congresswoman Bordallo to Visit troops in Iraq and Afghanistan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 12, 2008– Washington, D.C. –

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today leaves on a House Armed Services Committee Congressional Delegation to the Middle East. The mission of the delegation, led by Congresswoman Bordallo, is to inspect the working and living conditions of U.S. troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and to assess the progress of the U.S. mission in the Middle East.

“One of the responsibilities of the House Armed Services Committee is to provide oversight to military installations overseas and to assess the U.S. operations and the ongoing mission in the Middle East. My colleagues and I are eager to see the progress being made and reporting back to the full committee when the House resumes session in mid-September,” Congresswoman Bordallo said today. “I also look forward to meeting with our servicemen and women from Guam, including the Guam National Guard Alpha Company. I have brought any Guam goodies for them to enjoy, and I am excited to have the opportunity to spend time with as many of them as I can.”
