Clyburn on Comprehensive Energy Bill for the 21st Century
September 12 , 2008
WASHINGTON, D.C.—“This week the Democratic Caucus produced a home-grown, American-owned energy policy for the 21st century. This is the legislation America has been waiting for, laying out a smorgasbord of resources to address our energy challenges—it protects taxpayers and addresses high gas prices; expands domestic drilling offshore and on land; expands renewable sources of energy; reduces our dependence on foreign oil and strengthens our national security; requires Big Oil to pay what it owes American taxpayers and ends subsidies to Big Oil, denying them the ability to double-dip; and, most importantly, creates good paying jobs here at home.”
Clyburn on Seventh Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks
September 11 , 2008
WASHINGTON, D.C.—“Today we also resolve to honor the memories of those we lost on 9/11 through public service—by getting more involved in our communities, volunteering and reaching out a hand to those in need. Because it is only by working together that we will make this great nation a more perfect union.”
Clyburn on Third Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina
August 29, 2008
WASHINGTON, D.C.— “When we visited this July, our third trip to the region to mark the anniversary, we saw the hope and the future of the region and we recommitted ourselves to a partnership for the future. Since the trip, the president agreed to extend the cost-share requirements relieving the financial burden on levee rebuilding and coastal protection. We will continue to push for an investigation into the failure of the government. And we are committed to providing continued assistance for needs in health care, education, housing, infrastructure and more.”
