    Raising the Minimum Wage
  • Champion of raising the minimum wage so that New York families can earn a living wage.

  • Created Low Down Payment Home Ownership program for CLC and TSA employees
  • Working with the Central Labor Council, Fannie Mae and Countrywide, Congressman Crowley helped create a low down payment Home ownership program for Central Labor Council union employees and TSA employees.

  • Successfully worked with UNITE to unionize PSCH
  • Congressman Crowley used his authority and powers to work with both UNITE and PSCH, a Queens-based agency serving people with mental disabilities, to join together and unionize their 500 caregivers.
  • The unionized contract will ensure these 500 workers with a contract which includes wage increase, job security, grievance procedures and a pathway towards health benefits.

  • Worked with U.S. Department of Transportation to Secure UPS permission to Operate in China - creating more American labor jobs
  • Congressman Crowley worked diligently with local Teamsters representatives and UPS to secure authority for UPS to land in China and begin service from New York City
  • Helped create more UPS jobs in America and bolstering the 600+ Teamsters jobs in his district

  • Listening to Local Labor Concerns
  • Organized a Co-op City hearing to discuss the future of the transportation construction bill as well as possible project inclusion
  • Invited representatives from District Council of Carpenters, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 15, Building, Concrete, Excavating and Common Laborers, Lathers Union Local 46, Tunnel Workers, Teamsters Local 282, Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater NY, Local 100 Transport Workers Union

  • Extending Unemployment Benefits to Unemployed New Yorkers
  • Signed discharge petition and voted to extend unemployment insurance to those who lost their jobs of no fault of their own. The House Republican leadership continues to deny workers this right.

  • Protecting Davis-Bacon Provisions
  • Congressman Crowley worked successfully to keep the House-passed T-LU, 6-year highway funding bill clean of any language to strip workers of the Davis - Bacon labor protections, which ensure that not less than the locally prevailing wage is paid to workers employed in federal contract construction.

  • Ensuring Firefighters, Teachers and Police Receive Downpayment Assistance
  • Worked for successful passage of an amendment to Housing legislation to allow Federal Home Ownership Aid to help municipal employees, such as police officers, firefighters and teachers, buy homes in the communities they serve.
  • This amendment will benefit them and their families, as well as their neighbors.

  • Chief Leader in Support of "Right to Organize" Bill
  • Working with his Democratic colleagues, Congressman Crowley is championing support for the Employee Free Choice Act (H.R. 3619) to facilitate union creation and prohibit employers from unfair labor practices.
