SCHUMER ANNOUNCES OVER $2.7
MILLION FOR AIRPORTS IN ELMIRA AND MASSENA
Money Will Help Rehabilitate Runways At Both Facilities
US Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that the
Department of Transportation has awarded $2,789,500 in grants to Elmira/Corning
Regional Airport and Massena International- Richards Field. The money
will go towards runway improvements at both facilities.
"These federal grants are going to help Massena and Elmira
make some important improvements to their airports," said Schumer.
"Jet Blue and Southwest have shown that there is a market in
Upstate New York that is hungry for better air service and improving
our airports is a key part of the effort to attract new carriers
to the region."
The Town of Massena will receive $1,489,500 to rehabilitate the
runway and taxiway at Massena International-Richards Field. Chemung
County will get $1,300,000 to improve the taxiway and apron at Elmira/Corning
Regional Airport.
The money was approved under the Federal Aviation Authority Airport
Improvement Program.
