Working to Lower Health Care Costs

Per person, the United States spends more on health care than any other country in the world. Congressman Tierney believes we need to revise our system to be much more efficient so that we can lower administrative costs, make better use of technology, and establish standards of care that will eliminate costly errors and redundant practices.

Congressman Tierney was proud to support legislation (H.R. 4) to give the federal government the tools to lower prescription drug prices for millions of seniors and individuals with disabilities. This bill, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives in January of 2007, would require the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to negotiate lower drug prices on behalf of those who are enrolled in Medicare prescription drug plans.
