United States Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D - Hawaii) invites young men and women interested in seeking nominations to the U.S. Air Force, Naval, Military and Merchant Marine Academies to contact his office for an application for the class entering 2000.

The deadline to request an application is November 12, 1999. The deadline to submit the required documents is November 30, 1999.

Candidates must be citizens of the United States, legal residents of the State of Hawaii, unmarried and have no children, and be at least 17 years of age but not past their 23rd birthday on July 1 of the year of admission. All applicants must take the SAT or ACT exams. The SAT administered in November 1999 will be the last scores accepted.

Senator Akaka's selections are based on SAT or ACT scores, grade point average, school records, extracurricular activities, leadership potential and motivation, and recommendations.
