The Committee on Energy and Commerce met in open markup session on July 23, 2008, and took the following actions:

H.R. 6357, the “Protecting Records, Optimizing Treatment, and Easing Communication through Healthcare Technology Act of 2008” or the “PRO(TECH)T Act of 2008” was favorably reported, amended, by a voice vote.

The following amendments were offered:

An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute offered by Mr. Dingell, #1, was adopted, amended, by a voice vote;

An amendment to the Dingell Amendment #1 offered by Mr. Rogers, #1A, was adopted by a voice vote;

An amendment to the Dingell Amendment #1 offered by Ms. Eshoo, #1B, was adopted by a voice vote;

An amendment to the Dingell Amendment #1 offered by Mr. Shadegg, #1C, was withdrawn;

An amendment to the Dingell Amendment #1 offered by Mr. Rogers, #1D, was withdrawn;

An amendment to the Dingell Amendment #1 offered by Ms. Eshoo, #1E, was adopted by a voice vote;

An amendment to the Dingell Amendment #1 offered by Mr. Markey, #1F, was adopted by a voice vote;

An amendment to the Dingell Amendment #1 offered by Mr. Markey, #1G, was withdrawn;

An amendment to the Dingell Amendment #1 offered by Mr. Rogers, #1H, was withdrawn.
