FULL COMMITTEE ACTION

The Committee on Energy and Commerce met, pursuant to notice, in open markup session, and took the following actions:

A resolution offered by Mr. Barton making certain changes in the Republican membership and Ranking Members of the standing subcommittees for the One Hundred Tenth Congress, due to the retirement of the Hon. J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL), from Congress, was approved by a voice vote.

H.R. 4040, the "Consumer Product Safety Modernization Act", as amended by the Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection, was pending when the Committee adjourned.

The following amendments were offered:

An amendment in the nature of a substitute offered by Mr. Dingell, # 1, manager’s amendment, was pending.

An amendment offered by Ms. Eshoo, # 1A, to the Dingell substitute amendment was defeated by a yea-nay vote: 18 – 26.

An amendment offered by Mr. Murphy, # 1B, to the Dingell substitute amendment was withdrawn.

An amendment offered by Mr. Towns, # 1C, to the Dingell substitute amendment was withdrawn.

An amendment offered by Mr. Burgess, # 1D, to the Dingell substitute amendment was adopted by a voice vote.

An amendment offered by Mr. Markey, # 1E, to the Dingell substitute amendment was defeated by a yea-nay vote: 10 – 25.
