H.R. 3162, the “Children’s Health and Medicare Protection Act of 2007”, was considered.

The following actions were taken:

Mr. Dingell asked unanimous consent to dispense with the reading of the pending Barton Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute, #1, to H.R. 3162. Objection was heard.

The reading of the Barton Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute, #1, to H.R. 3162, continued. During the reading, a number of unanimous consent requests to dispense with the reading of the amendment were made, for which objection was heard, as well as parliamentary inquiries.

A motion by Mr. Burgess that the Committee adjourn until Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., was subsequently withdrawn.

The Barton Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute, #1, was read to page 170, line 15, at “Section 1848”.

The Committee adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
