FEMA Resources for Educators

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the government agency that leads the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.

Educational Resources for Parents and Teachers :

American Association for the Advancement of Science
The website for the AAAS provides many resources for educators of science and technology, including classroom and community activities, scientific publications and a science newsletter for educators.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross offers disaster services and preparedness and safety information.

Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), Disaster Center
The HSUS provides comprehensive guides for disaster preparedness and response for those with pets, including horses and livestock.

Hurricane and Natural Disasters Information, NOAA Miami Library
Learn all about hurricanes, tornadoes, lightening, floods, hail, thunderstorms and extreme heat. You'll also find safety and preparedness information, statistics and aswers to common questions.

The Exploratorium
The Exploratorium is a non-profit science museum in San Fransisco, and on this website you'll find information about the 1989 earthquake "Loma Preita," ideas for hands-on lessons about earthquakes from The Learning Studio and other useful links related to earthquakes.

FEMA - For Parents and Teachers
