Mazie was presented with the 2008 Pre-K Champion award on July 16, 2008, in recognition of her leadership on behalf of the nation’s youngest learners. She was the first legislator to receive this annual award. Mazie sponsored H.R. 3282, the Providing Resources Early for Kids Act (PRE-K Act), which was passed out of the House Education and Labor Committee on June 26, 2008.
