Blumenauer Delivers Message on the Democratic Prescription Drug Plan |
Friday, 26 July 2002 |
WASHINGTON, D.C.--The U.S. House of Representatives will likely vote tomorrow on
a Medicare prescription drug benefit. The Republicans will bring up their plan,
H.R. 4954, and the Democrats will offer an alternative plan on the House floor.
Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) is committed to providing a comprehensive
benefit that is affordable and dependable for all beneficiaries with no gaps or
gimmicks in coverage.
Additionally, many seniors are confused about what the debate means
personally, and, in particular, about the different benefits that will be
offered by the Republican and Democratic prescription drug plans. A new drug
savings calculator is available to seniors on the following web site:
http://www.house.gov/reform/min/. This calculator allows any senior to estimate
what their annual savings would be under the Democratic and Republican
prescription drug bills.
