Subcommittee on Intelligence, Information Sharing and Terrorism Risk Assessment

Dave G. Reichert (WA), Ranking Member

ReichertRanking Member Dave Reichert was elected in November 2004 to represent Washington’s 8th Congressional District. As Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Intelligence, Information Sharing, and Terrorism Risk Assessment, Reichert has jurisdiction over federal, state, and local intelligence and information sharing efforts within the United States; terrorism-related threat, vulnerability, and risk analyses at the Department of Homeland Security; and terrorism threat advisories and warnings. Congressman Reichert also serves on the Subcommittee on Border, Maritime, and Global Counterterrorism.

Reichert came to Congress with over 30 years experience in law enforcement. His remarkable record of service began when he joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1971, where he served until 1976. In 1972, Reichert joined the King County Sheriff’s Office and in 1997 he became the county's first elected sheriff in over 30 years. In his time as sheriff, Reichert brought national recognition to the office as head of the task force that solved the Green River Killer case - the largest serial murder case in U.S. history.

In addition to serving on the Committee on Homeland Security, Congressman Reichert also serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure's Subcommittee on Aviation and the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit.


Jurisdiction: Federal, state, and local intelligence and information sharing efforts within the United States; terrorism-related threat, vulnerability, and risk analyses at the Department of Homeland Security; terrorism threat advisories and warnings; Homeland Security Advisory System; liaison of the Department with U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies; the role of terrorism threat prioritization; FLETC; Secret Service; and overclassification issues.
