Watershed District endorses the 'Clean Ohio' fund bond package

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The proposal in the November general election to renew the Clean Ohio Fund bond package for water and green space conservation, brownfield revitalization, recreational trail development, farmland preservation and other related projects has been endorsed by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD).
Members of the MWCD Board of Directors signed a resolution of support during a recent meeting for the statewide Clean Ohio ballot issue that already has generated nearly $2.6 billion in public and private investments since being approved by voters eight years ago. Dozens of other cities, villages, counties and other agencies and organizations also have endorsed the renewal of the $400 million bond issue that will not increase taxes for Ohioans.
The MWCD has participated in the Clean Ohio Fund in recent years, leveraging the fund's dollars that it received to restore a section of stream corridor at Atwood Lake to prevent more than 400 tons of soil from eroding into the lake each year.
