Washington D.C. - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry welcomed the appearance of General David Petraeus before members of Congress to discuss American operations in Iraq. General Petraeus, commander of Multi-National Forces in Iraq, will appear before the House Armed Services Committee tomorrow afternoon.
"This is a critical moment for Iraq," Fortenberry said. "I have urged the Administration to make General Petraeus available to Congress before deliberations on the war supplemental began, and I am pleased he has come to Washington."
"I am eagerly awaiting tomorrow's congressional briefing. As the commander of operations in Iraq, General Petraeus offers an invaluable perspective to policymakers. I expect him to give a candid and frank assessment. He is an honest soldier."
