Fortenberry Accepting Applications from Nebraska High School Students for Congressional Page Program

Washington, DC - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today announced that his office will be accepting applications from eligible high school students for service as a Page in the United States House of Representatives for Spring 2008. This program is open to students who are 16 years of age at the time of their appointment and have at least a 3.0 grade point average. Applications must be received by Congressman Fortenberry’s Lincoln office no later than Wednesday, October 24, 2007.

“The Congressional Page program offers a unique opportunity to live, work, and attend high school while assisting our nation’s leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives,” Fortenberry said. “At present, 66 young men and women are participating in the legislative process as House pages. I strongly encourage students who are interested in advancing their education to apply.”

The Spring page term begins on January 27, 2008, and ends on June 6, 2008. In addition to completing the application form, students will need to submit a school transcript, an essay, three letters of recommendation (one from a current teacher), and a résumé of extracurricular activities.

Students may contact either Marie Woodhead in Congressman Fortenberry’s Lincoln office or Katie Parsley in the Washington, DC office if interested in applying or with any questions.
