WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Barack Obama today released the following statement after the Senate passed the National Highway Trust Fund bill (H.R.6532):

"I am pleased the Senate finally passed this measure to address the shortfall in the Highway Trust Fund, which will prevent disruptions of badly needed transportation modernization and safety projects. This legislation will safeguard thousands of jobs at a time when so many Americans are unemployed and our economy is suffering."
