Inhofe Announces $3 Million DOT Grant to Benefit Oklahoma Transportation Center

WASHINGTON, D.C. -U.S. Sen. James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.) announced today a $3,010,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the Oklahoma Transportation Center at Oklahoma State University.
"I am pleased to announce that $3 million has been awarded to the Oklahoma Transportation Center through the U.S. Department of Transportation," said Senator Inhofe. "As a long time champion for Oklahoma's transportation needs, I have been proud to support the exemplary research of the Oklahoma Transportation Center. OTC is a collaboration of three of our fine universities giving students a key role in developing our future transportation goals."
Over the last five years, Senator Inhofe has invested more than $40 million in roads and infrastructure projects at OSU's Oklahoma Transportation Center and the Northern Oklahoma Regional Multimodal Transportation System.
As the author of the 2005 Highway Bill, Senator Inhofe invested $18.8 million to the center and designated OTC as a National University Transportation Center making it eligible for additional federal funds.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded grant funding this week to seven regional transportation research centers located at universities across the country. The University Transportation Centers (UTC) program advances the nation's transportation system through education, research and technology transfer, and is administered by DOT's Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA).
Grant recipients include Oklahoma State University, awarded $3,010,000; Portland State University and the University of Wisconsin at Madison were each awarded $2,858,100; and Youngstown State University received $408,300.
