Each Senator may have five individuals (5 slots) at an Academy at any one time. The Senator nominates ten individuals per open slot at the individual academy from the hundreds of applications filed. Pages are appointed and sponsored by a member of Congress and must be high school juniors and at least sixteen years old. A Senate internship is a great way for young people to see first hand how the Senate and their government functions. My office has opportunities for interning in both Washington, DC and New Jersey. The U.S. Senate Youth Program is an excellent opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to deepen their knowledge of the Senate and the federal government overall. Today in the SenateSeptember 15, 2008:The Senate will convene at 3:00 p.m. and resume consideration of S. 3001, the Defense Authorization bill. There will be no roll call votes during Monday's. As a reminder, on Friday, Senator Reid filed cloture on the Defense Authorization bill. Senators have until 4:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, to file germane first degree amendments.
