2007 Award–Winning Artwork on Display

Each spring, artwork created by some of the most talented young artists in North Dakota is selected for the 2007 Northern Visions Award sponsored by Senator Byron Dorgan.

Jurors choose pieces from among 700 pieces of art nominated by North Dakota teachers of kindergarten through high school students. The selection process is held annually at the North Dakota Juried Student Art Show, which is hosted at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot.

Below are the winners of the 2007 Northern Visions Award. These pieces are currently displayed in Senator Dorgan’s offices.

Atomic

Atomic was created by Chris Miller using intaglio/dry point. Chris is a 12th grade student and attends Minot City Campus in Minot. Atomic currently is displayed in Senator Dorgan’s Washington office.

Diversity

Diversity was created by C.J. Mitchell using oil pastel. C.J. is in the eighth grade at Valley Middle School in Grand Forks. Diversity currently is displayed in Senator Dorgan’s Fargo office.

Funny Face

Funny Face was created by Seth Young using colored pencil. Seth is in the 11th grade and attends Red River High School in Grand Forks. Funny Face currently is displayed in Senator Dorgan’s Bismarck office.

Lily

Lily was created by Melissa Podruchny using an ink pen. Melissa is a ninth grade student and attends Central Campus in Minot. Lily currently is displayed in Senator Dorgan’s Minot office.

My Puppy

My Puppy was created by Koby Marchus using charcoal pencil. Koby attends Kindergarten at Wolford Public School in Wolford. My Puppy currently is displayed in Senator Dorgan’s Bismarck office.
