September 16, 2008 - Nevada Senator Harry Reid released a public service announcement (PSA) this week to highlight the achievements of the Latino community in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. “Forty years ago, Lyndon Johnson proclaimed a National Hispanic Heritage Week,” Reid said. “Twenty years ago, it became a month-long celebration. Today, the accomplishments of the Latino community cannot be contained or described in merely a month’s time. It is only right that we celebrate their diverse heritage and contributions to American business, education, government, and society.”
