Clyburn Praises Our Troops for Their Patriotic Service

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement regarding the five year anniversary of the commencement of the U.S.-led invasion into Iraq, which will be March 19, 2008. Congressional leadership held a ceremony today in the Capitol Rotunda to mark the event.
“The heroism and valor displayed by our men and women who have served our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the globe speak volumes about the noble character of our soldiers, pilots and sailors serving in harms way.
“These brave men and women serving in uniform deserve our unwavering gratitude for the ultimate sacrifices they have made in defending our freedoms and promoting democracy around the globe.
“This New Direction Congress remains committed to ensuring that our troops not only have the resources they need while serving abroad but are also bestowed the benefits and medical services they need upon retuning home from combat.”
