from the Office of Senator Pete V. Domenici

Thursday, September 11, 2008

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Pete Domenici announced today that the Department of Commerce has released a $960,000 he secured last year for the city of Bloomfield to make improvements to its infrastructure system.

The funds, awarded through the DOC’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), will support water, sewer, road extension improvement, as well as site work and preparation for development of the Animas Industrial Park. At an overall cost of $2.25 million, it is expected that the project will create 94 jobs and leverage $1.7 million in private investment.

“I expect this economic investment will enable Bloomfield to upgrade portions of its city infrastructure that need improvement and generate economic diversity,” said Domenici, who gained the funds as a member of the Senate Appropriations subcommittee that funds the Commerce Department.

The EDA serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of disadvantaged communities across the country. For more information, visit http://www.eda.gov/
