Dingell, Stupak, Markey Request DOJ Briefing on Warrantless Surveillance Program
Washington, DC - Rep. John D. Dingell (D-MI), Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, and Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet, sent the following letter yesterday to Acting U.S. Attorney General Peter D. Keisler requesting information on the Administration’s warrantless wiretapping program. The Energy and Commerce Committee leaders recently inquired of telecommunications companies about their involvement in the surveillance programs. However, the companies responded they are not permitted by the Administration to explain their role in the programs to Congressional leaders.
