July 17, 2008 (WASHINGTON) - Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) is pleased to announce that Angela Addae has been chosen to serve as a congressional intern in his Committee on Homeland Security office in Washington, D.C. this summer.

Congressman Thompson stated, “I’m extremely proud to have Angela working with the Committee on Homeland Security this summer. She has quickly demonstrated her ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and a passion for securing our nation.”

Addae is the 19-year-old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David and Rejoice Addae. She is currently a sophomore at Fisk University, where she is majors in Sociology. Addae was a 2007 Warren Central High School graduate. Upon graduation from Fisk, she hopes to attend law school and pursue a career in public policy and community development.

Addae’s interests in policymaking and her dedication to serving her community motivated her to serve as a congressional intern. She hopes to eventually return to Capitol Hill, to continue her work in public service and impacting the legislative process.

“Interning on Capitol Hill has been a challenging, yet rewarding experience,” says Addae. “I work hands-on in the legislative process, alongside Congressman Thompson’s amazing staff. This opportunity has enabled me to enhance my leadership and teamwork skills, as well as determine my career path. I could not have asked for anything better.”
