Thompson Questions Bush on Pandemic Flu Preparednes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Thursday, December 13, 2007

(WASHINGTON) – Yesterday afternoon, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, wrote President Bush concerning his Administration’s lackluster attention to pandemic influenza preparedness.

Specifically, the letter (which can be accessed by the link below) draws attention to the Administration’s failure to meet self-imposed deadlines for executing pandemic influenza preparedness activities and asks the President to answer for sliding deadlines, his inability to hold the Executive Branch accountable, and poor transparency in communicating the true state of our national readiness for the next influenza pandemic.

Chairman Thompson’s letter can be accessed here.
