Since being elected to the House of Representatives in 1996, Congressman Blumenauer has been an outspoken leader on global warming .  The House voted to create the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming in 2007, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi appointed Congressman Blumenauer to serve on it as the second-ranking Democrat.

The committee seeks to investigate, study and make recommendations on steps the federal government can take to reduce America’s dependence on foreign fuels and contributions to climate change.
