Dreier Unanimously Reelected Leader of
California Republican Congressional Delegation

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas), Chairman of the House Rules Committee, was unanimously reelected today to serve as Leader of the California Republican Congressional delegation for the 109th Congress. Dreier has lead the delegation since May 2001.

“I thank my colleagues for their continued support as we work together for the people of California,” Dreier said. “We have accomplished a great deal together in the last two years, including passage of the landmark CALFED legislation that will improve water management for the entire state of California. Working hand in hand with Governor Schwarzenegger and capitalizing on our member’s positions of leadership throughout the House, we will build on our successes. We will continue our efforts to send back to California the resources necessary to deal with the challenges of incarcerating illegal immigrants, as well as aggressively pursue the policy that will help our state deal with the issue of immigration.”

Also unanimously reelected today was Congressman Ken Calvert as Vice-Chairman of the delegation. “Congressman Calvert was among those who lead the charge on the CALFED legislation,” Dreier said. “I look forward to working with Ken and our colleagues in the next two years to achieve more success for our state.”

Calvert added his support for Dreier’s reelection. “I congratulate Congressman Dreier on his reelection as chairman of the California Republican delegation,” Calvert said. “His leadership will ensure our delegation’s continued success in the 109th Congress.”
