Dreier to Present WWII Vet with Medals for Service

May 30, 2007

SAN DIMAS, CA - Congressman David Dreier will present World War II veteran and Glendora, CA resident Vincenzo Di Mauro with medals he earned during his service in the U.S. Army at a ceremony tomorrow, May 31, 2007. Mr. Di Mauro, a 21 year Army veteran, earned the Purple Heart, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, and a Army Commendation Medal, but never received them due to clerical errors that occurred during his service. Dreier said veterans like Vincenzo Di Mauro deserve proper recognition for their service, no matter how long it takes.

"Vincenzo Di Mauro was a young man when he fought in the Battle of Huertgen Forest in 1944," Dreier said. "His courage and commitment to the cause of freedom kept him going during an incredibly difficult battle, and through a 21 year career with the Army. He is a prime example of what makes this country great. It is an honor to be able to present him with medals he earned in service to our country."
