Tax Cuts

Senator Rockefeller has a strong track record as a champion for West Virginia's working families and small businesses. He has opposed any policy to provide excessive tax cuts to the richest Americans, and has voted time and again to keep taxes low for working families and small businesses in West Virginia.

Rockefeller strongly supports targeted tax cuts and has fought to expand the low-income tax bracket to 10 percent, eliminate the marriage penalty, and expand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) so more low- and middle- income workers can keep more of their hard-earned money.

Rockefeller also fought to expand the child tax credit for an additional 27,000 low-income children in West Virginia, and he cosponsored legislation to increase the refundable portion of the child tax credit to the poorest working families, making the credit more valuable for families earning between $10,000 and $27,000.
