Nevada Senator Harry Reid welcomed 15 Nevada Latinas to the first-ever Senate Democratic Latina Summit this week. The Senate Democratic Caucus has been convening similar events and summits for the past 10 years to address issues most relevant to the Latino community. Reid thanked the Nevada delegation for its leadership in the Silver State.

“The opportunity for Latinos to shape our country’s future has never been stronger,” Reid said. “The Latino community has never been as ready as it is today to engage in civic and electoral engagement. And Latinas hold so much of that power in your hands. Many of you are the driving force in your families and communities and our country needs you to help mobilize and energize those among you. The influence of the Latino vote has never been greater.” The summit highlighted a Conversation with Latina Trailblazers, a panel that featured Latinas who have used their influence to create positive change in their community and to make a real difference in the lives of American families.
