Dingell Statement on Legislation to Overturn EPA California Ruling

Washington, DC – The following statement, regarding legislation introduced today to overturn the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision not to grant California a waiver for its vehicle emissions regulations, may be attributed to Rep. John D. Dingell (D-MI), the Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce:

“The appropriate roles and responsibilities of different agencies at different levels of government will be among the many difficult issues that will be raised as the Committee on Energy and Commerce drafts comprehensive climate change legislation this year.

“The Committee’s most recent climate change white paper raises key factors that should be considered in determining what roles are appropriate for each level of government. The white paper process is intended to elicit thoughtful discussion on these complex issues and I look forward to debating them thoroughly as the Committee moves forward this year with hearings and legislation.”
