FULL COMMITTEE ACTION

H.R. ____, To amend the automobile fuel economy provisions of title 49, United States Code, to authorize the Secretary of Transportation to set fuel economy standards for passenger automobiles based on one or more vehicle attributes, was ordered favorably reported to the House, amended, by a yea-nay vote: 28 - 26.

A request by Mr. Barton to allow a report to be filed on a bill to be introduced by Mr. Barton, and that the actions of the Committee be deemed as actions on that bill, was agreed to by unanimous consent.

The following amendments were offered:

An amendment offered by Mr. Barton, #1, Manager's Amendment, was adopted by a voice vote;

An amendment offered by Mr. Stearns, #2, directing the Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to conduct a study on the requirement of separate fuel economy calculations for automobiles manufactured domestically and not domestically contained in section 32904(b) of title 49 U.S. Code, was adopted, as amended by the Stearns unanimous consent request, by a yea-nay vote: 27 - 23;

An amendment to the Stearns amendment offered by Mr. Pickering, #2A, to strike lines 11 - 24 on page 2, and line 1 on page 3, was withdrawn;

A unanimous consent request by Mr. Stearns, to strike lines 11 - 24 on page 2 of his amendment, was agreed to with no objection;

An amendment by Mr. Markey, #3, to ensure that the average fleet-wide fuel economy of cars and light trucks manufactured after model year 2015 will be at least 33 miles per gallon, was defeated by a yea-nay vote: 17 - 36.
